The mobs show up in North America to meet GSP and Fedor

Fight nights are usually the big nights in mixed martial arts, but yesterday on a random Tuesday, the sport took center stage in Toronto and New York. The UFC hit the ground in Canada for a big press conference to introduce the fighters for its April event in Ontario. Strikeforce held a huge fanfest in New York. Fedor Emelianenko was swarmed like a rockstar.

Check out the photos at Roseland in New York City as Fedor, Alistair Overeem, Fabricio Werdum, Sergei Kharitonov, Andrei Arlovski, Josh Barnett, Antonio Silva, Brett Rogers and Frank Shamrock hung out with the crowd. 

Fans were fired up:

Dyami Arroyo of The Bronx was the first to show at 8:30 a.m. Despite cold, bitter, windy conditions, he kept his spot at the head of the line. "There was no way I was going to miss a chance to meet Fedor and the greatest heavyweights in the world," Arroyo told Strikeforce P.R.. "As soon as I heard about this, I told my boss I was taking the day off."

Said Brooklyn’s Joe Doyle, who arrived a little after Arroyo and Diaz: "To get this kind of access to these kinds of fighters is unbelievable," he said. "There was no way I wasn’t going to be here. I am really happy that STRIKEFORCE did something like this for us. No other MMA organizations do anything like this around here."

Strikeforce opens its heavyweight Grand Prix this Saturday in New Jersey (Showtime 10 p.m. ET/PT). Fedor faces Antonio Silva while Arlovski battles Kharitonov.

UFC 126 Results: Miguel Torres Beats Antonio Banuelos

by Michael David SmithFormer WEC bantamweight champion Miguel Torres looked great in his UFC debut, beating Antonio Banuelos by unanimous decision at UFC 126.

All three judges scored it 30-27 for Torres, who may just be fighting for the UFC bantamweight belt by the end of the year. He looks like he's back.

"I did what my coach told me to do," Torres said. "I followed the game plan. ... I know I broke his nose. I heard it crunch a couple times."

Joe Rogan interview: UFC analyst gives Belfort a real shot at pulling the upset

Vitor Belfort is one of the originals. The former UFC light heavyweight champ was around when the promotion was slightly less organized and MMA was a lot less accepted as a sport around the world. He was brutally honest about Belfort and his chances against Anderson Silva in the main event of UFC 126. Rogan talked a about Belfort mentally breaking past fights, but thinks he may be beyond those issues. He also believes Belfort can be more than competitive going toe-to-toe on the feet with the middleweight champ.

UFC 126: Forrest Griffin Beats Rich Franklin

In a battle of former UFC champions, Forrest Griffin returned to the Octagon for the first time in more than a year and defeated Rich Franklin by unanimous decision at UFC 126.

It wasn't quite the barn-burner that some fans expected from Griffin and Franklin, but it was a solid fight and a good showing for Griffin, who won 29-28 on all three judges' cards.

"It's great to be back," Griffin said. "I was so nervous. ... It's hard to come back after a year."
