Mendes wrestles way to another win at UFC 133

Chad Mendes continued his unbeaten streak with a wrestling-filled decision over Rani Yahya. This pushes Mendes' record to 11-0, while Yahya falls to 16-7.

Mendes knocked Yahya down in the first round, and then showed off his wrestling pedigree with a quick takedown to start the second round. Yahya had a hard time creating space to show off any of his jiu jitsu skills, and Mendes got up to get another takedown, hold Yahya down, and then get back to his feet. Both fighters were shook up on their feet by some hard, if not clean, striking.

The third round showed more of the same, as Mendes had no problem getting Yahya down, but didn't give up enough room for Yahya to work. It worked for Mendes, but didn't make it an especially exciting fight.

Speedfreak update

Honestly I was super happy to improve my personal top speed at my homespot Lake Neusiedl up to 67,24 km/h in the late autumn of 2010. The small gear, iSonic 86 plus Reflex 6,2 on an Enigma 430 works brilliant. I used my smallest Slalom fin of Pfaffis S1 Slalom, with 31,5 cm. This fin [...]

Don?t bring Jon Jones a fake belt to sign

Jon Jones' ascent to the top of the UFC's light heavyweight division has been fast, but also filled with plenty of hard work and growth as a fighter. It has been far from easy. He's proud of that belt and even keeps it wrapped in a special case when not carrying it with him.

So you can understand why he's not wild about the fact that someone can go to Toys 'r' Us and buy a similar belt for $12.99.

I hate it when people come up to me with a belt that looks exactly like mine and they ask me to sign it. I worked three times a day for three years to get this belt, and now this guy asking me for an autograph has one just like it. Are you serious? I mean it's not as heavy, but it looks just the same.

Fair enough, Jon. He has grown close to that belt, and doesn't want to see the fakes out there. He will have to put it on the line on Sept. 24 against Quinton "Rampage" Jackson.

Thanks to With Leather. Read the whole interview to hear what Jones will sign and Urijah Faber's thoughts on how to improve MMA.

Yves Edwards-Rafaello Oliveira on Tap for UFC on Versus 6 in Washington, D.C.

Yves Edwards will look to rebound from a Knockout of the Year-caliber loss to Sam Stout last month when he meets Rafaello Oliveira in October.

The two lightweights have agreed to meet at UFC on Versus 6 on Oct. 1 in the UFC's debut in the nation's capital. The promotion announced the matchup Thursday night.

UFC on Versus 6, the last of the promotion's four-card deal with the cable channel for 2011, will take place at the Verizon Center in Washington, D.C., and will be headlined by a bantamweight title fight between champion Dominick Cruz and Demetrious Johnson.

Edwards (40-17-1, 8-5 UFC) lost for the first time since his latest return to the UFC when a vicious left from Stout knocked him out cold in the first round of their UFC 131 bout. Stout won Knockout of the Night honors and snapped Edwards' three-fight winning streak, which included a double bonus for Fight of the Night and Submission of the Night in a win over Cody McKenzie at the UFC's Fight for the Troops 2 show in January.

Edwards is in his eighth stint with the UFC. His career with the promotion started at UFC 33 with a loss to future welterweight champ Matt Serra. In between returns to the Octagon, the Bahamas-born fighter has had bouts for a wide-ranging set of promotions, including Pride, Bodog Fight, EliteXC, Strikeforce and Bellator.

Oliveira (14-4, 1-3 UFC) is coming off a submission loss to fellow Brazilian Gleison Tibau at UFC 130 in May. That fight came on short notice, replacing an injured Bart Palaszewski, and was Oliveira's return to the UFC after going 4-0 outside the promotion after a 1-2 run in 2009-2010.

In addition to the bantamweight title fight between Cruz and Johnson, UFC on Versus 6 features a heavyweight tilt between the 6-foot-11 Stefan Struve and 5-11 Pat Barry, a welterweight bout between Charlie Brenneman and Anthony Johnson and the long-awaited rematch between Matt Wiman and Mac Danzig following their controversial finish at UFC 115 in June 2010. The main card will air live on Versus.

Rosholt fighting his way back to UFC at Shark Fights 17? Rodriguez off and then back on card

Because of the high injury rate in mixed martial arts, the UFC is always looking for reinforcements. Jake Rosholt wants to be one of those guys.

The former NCAA Div. I wrestling champ at Oklahoma State was released by the promotion in 2010. Tonight, he takes on veteran Matt Horwich. Rosholt is 4-1 with a no contest since his departure, but that loss came against Horwich.

"[I take] nothing away from Horwich; he whipped my ass last time," Rosholt recently told MMAjunkie. "But it's going to be a completely different fight. I'm going in with a different mindset, just a different swagger, and I got a lot of confidence right now. I'm fighting good, and it's going to take a hell of a man to stop me."

Rosholt (11-3, 1 NC, 1-2 UFC) wants back in with the major leagues.

"I don't see why not (if) I go out there and put on a good performance," he said. "This would be like six wins in a row against a tough guy ? a guy that's beat me before ? so it's the first hurdle that I've had to jump in my career. It'll be a great test for me and damn sure a big stepping stone to get myself back in the UFC."

The card in Frisco, Tx. airing tonight on HDNet (9 p.m. ET) also includes former UFC heavyweight champ Ricco Rodriguez. This news comes after a wacky 24 hours where Rodriguez pulled out of his original bout. Rodriguez was booked for a 230-pound catchweight fight. The slimmed down Rodriguez, weighing just 227 pounds, watched his opponent come in at 253. Shark Fights found a late replacement in Doug Williams.

Duke Roufus talks about Pat Barry and the future of his gym

"Watch out, there's going to be fireworks tonight," Anthony Pettis said as he laced up gloves for a night of sparring at Roufus Sport.

It was a muggy, hot night in Milwaukee, and the air conditioning wasn't working in the main workout room. So much sweat poured off the fighters that a volunteer used a mop to sop up the sweat between each round of sparring, but it didn't matter. The floors were soaked.

Pettis was right, as not a single fighter took it easy. Everyone from UFC fighters Anthony Pettis, Erik Koch and Ben Rothwell to the bankers and lawyers looking for a tough workout to the tweens who look at Pettis with adoring eyes used every second of sparring to bring it. Nothing could make Duke Roufus, the head coach overseeing the practice, happier.

"There's big stars in there, but they take a knee at the end of practice like everyone else. There's some big stars out there who couldn't handle that. It's a team. It's great what we do in the UFC, but I'm also happy with the day-to-day of what we do in this place."

Despite recent losses by Pettis and Danny Downes, and the departure of heavyweight Pat Barry, Roufus' gym has grown so much that they will soon upgrade into a 14,000 square-foot complex across the street. Roufus acknowledges the losses, but points out his style isn't one-size-fits-all.

"I have an environment that isn't for everybody. I run it more like a collegiate wrestling room. Some guys like that, and some guys don't. Everyone feeds off of it. It was the hottest day of the year, and we had guys going hard," Roufus told Cagewriter.

Though Barry has moved onto Death Clutch with Brock Lesnar in Minnesota, Roufus wishes his former pupil the best.

"We've had some personnel changes. Pat Barry has moved on. It's for the best. I wish him well. It sucks that he got knocked out like that. Getting knocked out cold is a scary thing."

Roufus would rather focus on the fighters he has in the room. Ben Rothwell and Erik Koch both have fights coming up, with Rothwell fighting Mark Hunt at UFC 135 and Koch taking on Jonathan Brookins at Ultimate Fight Night 25. Both also appreciate having Roufus in their corner.

"It's cool because Duke is like a student who never stops learning. You think a guy who has been around martial arts for 30 years would think, 'Oh, I know enough!' He doesn't stop. He watches videos. He watches fights. He's coming up with new ways to do things. For me, that's exciting to have a guy who has an open mind. Close-minded guys end up as victories on my record," Rothwell said.

All in the family

Pettis, the final WEC lightweight champion who brought fame to the gym with his "Showtime" kick, appreciates the environment at the gym.

"Being here now, Erik Koch lives with me. It's a family. We live together, we train together, we do everything together. We all have the same dream. We all want to be the best," Pettis said.

Calling the gym a family isn't lip service for Pettis, either. His younger brother Sergio, a miniature version of Anthony who is already making waves as a fighter in Milwaukee, worked out next to his brother. Both had a tough time with the planks and wall sits required at the end of practice, but encouraged each other through the workout.

Pettis originally came to Roufus Sport to train, not compete. He needed a way to avoid the trouble that befell many of his relatives, and he found it in MMA. Now, he's a leader, with young fighters wanting to show Pettis "the new kick they made up."

Roufus sees how martial arts has been a savior, and wants to open the doors of his gym so that more people around Milwaukee can find that refuge.

"Martial arts saved Anthony. Saved me, too. I could have gotten into some bad things. A lot of these kids have turned their lives around. A lot of these kids don't have the best life at home," Roufus said of his hopes for the future of Roufus Sport. "A lot of people are looking for something. Instead of a bar, come here. I'd like it to be like a community center. When you're not training, have fun. I'd rather have them here than be in trouble."

Strikeforce fighter St. Preux once snubbed Bobby Bowden

Ovince St. Preux hits the big stage in Las Vegas tomorrow night at Strikeforce Challengers 17. With 14 pro fights under his belt, he won't be nervous. It doesn't hurt either that he played football in front 100,000-plus during his days in the SEC at Tennessee.

OSP would love to get recruited to the UFC at some point in the future. If offered, it won't be a tough decision. It wasn't as easy when he was a star athlete in high school. All the big guns came after the 6-foot-3, 220-pound linebacker/defensive end prospect.

St. Preux joined ESPNRadio1100's DC and the Sunshine Man on Wednesday to talk about his fighting and football background. He said he chose Tennessee over schools like Miami, Florida State, Notre Dame and Clemson. The decision to turn down Bobby Bowden and FSU was made easier when OSP had a little incident go down at his job.

While St. Preux was working at a Burger King in the Immokalee, Fl. area, his boss got a call asking for the star athlete. The manager asked who was calling and thought it was a prank when the voice on the other end said, "it's Bobby Bowden." The BK boss hung up the phone. That wasn't really the make or break moment in St. Preux's recruitment, but it made for a memorable story. OSP went to have a productive career along sides the likes of Kevin Burnett, Erik Ainge, Robert Peace, Cedric Houston and Gerald Riggs Jr.

Now he wants to be mentioned with names like Jon Jones, Quinton Jackson, Rashad Evans, Mauricio "Rua" Shogun and Lyoto Machida. OSP looks for his seventh straight win tomorrow night against Joe Cason in Las Vegas.

?More powerful? Diego Sanchez turns to UFC video game for training

Diego Sanchez is about as close as it gets to a regular guy fighting in the UFC. At times, he struggled early in his career in dealing with his new fame and fortune. As he gets older, his body is changing and Sanchez bounced between lightweight and welterweight.

With his next fight against Matt Hughes three months away, Sanchez has packed on a little extra beef, but he was working some of it off at UFC 132 in the media room.

Check out Sanchez working out with the new UFC Personal Trainer game on the XBox 360. The game busts his rear end and he works up quite a sweat with something called Constant.

"When the first UFC game came out ("UFC Undisputed"), I never even dreamed being in such a realistic game," Sanchez told ESPN.com. "The game is so realistic looking that I do my late night training by getting on my PlayStation 3 and fighting my opponent 20 times in the game. That way I'm able to see myself knocking him out over and over again. It's a visualization tool for me where you're seeing it, you're feeling it and you can already have that knockout in your mind. As long as you go in and do the work and train, when you get in and fight, you've already seen what can happen, so it's more realistic that it will happen."

Sanchez admitted that the game beats him at times. The video conversation also includes Phil Davis, Brian Stann and trainer Greg Jackson. "Mr Wonderful" steals the show at the end.

Kendall Grove vs. Joe Riggs Rematch Likely for ProElite's August 27 Relaunch

Kendall Grove looks like he has a new home, and a new opponent.

The longtime UFC fighter, released after his second straight loss in the octagon, is close to finishing a deal to join the returning ProElite promotion, and is likely to face Joe Riggs in his return.

The news was passed along by ProElite vice president of fight operations T. Jay Thompson, who shared it on Monday's edition of The MMA Hour.

Grove (12-9, 1 no contest), had a five-year stretch in the UFC, going 7-6 in 13 fights under the promotion's banner. His run in the octagon was highlighted by wins over former middleweight champion Evan Tanner, as well as Alan Belcher and Goran Reljic.

The Hawaiian seems a natural fit for ProElite's return to event promotion, which will take place at Blaisdell Arena in Honolulu on August 27.

His opponent is most likely to be Riggs, also a former UFC competitor and a veteran of nearly 50 pro fights. He's 34-13 with one contest in his career. Thompson announced Riggs' signing on the show.

If the fight takes place, it will be a rematch of a May 2004 fight in Hawaii, which Riggs won via first round KO.

The August 27 ProElite return is also likely to feature Andrei Arlovski, debuting former NCAA heavyweight champion wrestler Mark Ellis, and BJ Penn's younger brother, Reagan Penn.

Fertitta interview Part 3: UFC owner has strong feelings on TRT, wants solutions soon

Testosterone replacement therapy may have been sports' dirty little secret, but Chael Sonnen and Nate Marquardt changed that with their highly publicized run ins with state commissions in California, Nevada, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. Those are some of the leading commissions in the country yet there's no standard policy and plenty of gray area to allow fighters to, at a minimum, enhance their performance between fights and during training camp.

The confusion over TRT really concerns UFC owner Lorenzo Fertitta.

"What you can't have are guys abusing this to the point where their levels are at some super-human factor, giving them this performance enhancement," Fertitta told ESPNRadio1100's "The MMA Insiders" show in Las Vegas.

Fertitta says testing right before and after a fight isn't enough to prevent fighters from abusing TRT.

"There's got to be more random testing. It seems like, possibly, guys are getting outside the boundary while they're training and managing it down where once the week of the fight [has arrived], they take the test and they're fine. I think that there needs to be this random testing to make sure no one's abusing it," said Fertitta (1:25 mark).

For the UFC, there is no gray area concerning TRT.

"I think we came off with a pretty strong response to Nate Marquardt, and kind how we feel about TRT," Fertitta said. "Our stance is we're working with commissions to say 'look this whole thing has got to come to an end.' If you are going to have some kind of therapy, not only can you not be at the top end of the range, you can't be anywhere near performance enhancing."

Before he was due to fight in the main event at UFC on Versus 4, Marquardt failed his test in Pennsylvania. He was suspended by the Keystone State and then it came to light his TRT issues began in N.J. before UFC 128.

Marquardt didn't have a testosterone use exemption in either state and tested positive at least once. What was the penalty? He was fired by the UFC, with little hopes of a return, but he is once again free to fight in the U.S.. Once he passed a subsequent test in Pennsylvania he was cleared and will serve no suspension.

Rothwell interview: ?It?s not a comeback. It?s an unveiling?

Walking into Roufus Sport Academy in Milwaukee, I crossed paths with a man who resembled UFC heavyweight Ben Rothwell, but this one looked slimmed down from the man who beat Gilbert Yvel in a decision at UFC 115. Rothwell sustained a knee injury in that fight, and has been rehabbing his knee since.

This same Rothwell-lookalike made his way through a killer sparring practice, followed by a conditioning session where coach Duke Roufus bounced up and down on this fighter's abs as he did crunches.

Turns out that this was Rothwell, and he's looking at his UFC 135 bout to show how he's improved during the layoff.

"I've really worked hard on myself. It's not a comeback. It's an unveiling," Rothwell told Cagewriter. "I have been off for more than a year, and instead of using it as a layoff I've used it as a huge building block. I posted a few pictures, and people said, 'Whoa, this guy ain't the same.' When I came back to Duke, he said, 'People who are off because of an injury usually gain 20 lbs. You look like you've lost 20 lbs.'

Rothwell has 37 fights under that belt, and he sees that experience as an asset in preparing to end the layoff in a bout with fellow veteran Mark Hunt.

"I've been fighting for so long, and I've had layoffs, I've been out. I think I'm one of the few guys who can come back from such a long layoff and not look like I've missed a beat. I'm really banking on that fact. As far as Americans go, I'm one of the most experienced guys in the sport. I've been fighting the longest. I'm 31-7, and I've gone through a lot, inside and outside the Octagon."

He hurt his knee in the first round of the bout with Yvel, but is proud that he was able to complete the fight with a victory.

"It was a big challenge for me because I knew my knee was hurt, right at the beginning of the fight. I was in a must-win situation. I'm known for having exciting fights, and it wasn't one of my more exciting fights. Unfortunately for the crowd, they didn't like it, but for me, it was a tremendous mental victory because I knew what I was up against. I was on the brink of defeat, and I fought through and I won. I went through a three-round bout on one leg and won."

Back for a title run

Now, Rothwell wants to make a run for the title, in part because he isn't happy with the way other fighters have acted towards fans.

"A lot of these guys, especially champions, I see how they act, and it enrages me. It's not right. It's not fair," he said. "I fight for the fans because without them, I wouldn't be able to do this. A lot of guys talk the talk, but people know when they meet me, I smile in my pictures. I love giving autographs because I am very thankful for everyone that's made the sport possible. That motivating factor has made me who I am now, and it's time to go out and take what's mine."

He wants to be the kind of champ that fans deserve because MMA, and all the people involved in the sport, made such a marked difference on his life.

"When I was 17, 18 years old, I was on a path of destruction. I had no guidance. I had a gorilla on my shoulder. It wasn't even a chip. I was very lost. The sport has completely changed me. It's made me a far more humble person. It showed me the truth about a lot of people, and it showed me the truth about myself. The sport has given me a reason to be a good person. I have a lot that I fight to protect, and this sport gave me all that. I am forever indebted to it."

Warren interview: Disappointed Bellator champ just wants fights

Joe Warren's rapid ascent to world champion has been fun to watch. Now the question is whether he can retain his Bellator featherweight world title and eventually add UFC hardware to his mantle.

To beat the best in the world, he knows he's got to log cage time. Real cage time. Warren is angry that his latest fight went by the wayside. Warren was set to face Patricio "Pitbull" Freire at Bellator 47 next week in Canada. Freire suffered a hand injury and the fight was canceled. Now he has to wait until September for his next fight.

Warren joined ESPNRadio1100's "The MMA Insiders" to talk about his career and what could be a bright future. Now, how will he handle another two months before he has to peak?

"I train full-time man. Since I can remember, I've been in the wrestling room training," Warren said. "As young as I am in fighting, I need to be in there training hard like that. My whole concern is the layoff time between fights."

Warren would love to be fighting 5-6 times a year. He already holds Bellator's 145-pound title and will work towards adding the 135 title with a tournament starting in the fall.

"I'm new at it, so I need to be in there. I can't simulate a live fighting match like I can a live wrestling match. It doesn't go down the way you ever expect it to. I feel like the only way I'm learning is in the ring," said Warren.

Warren's sense of urgency is due to his age. He's going to be 35 later this fall. He spent his 20's and early 30's on the international wrestling scene. He's rolled up a 7-1 record since making his MMA debut in March of 2009.

Warren said he plans on making one more run at the Olympics in Greco-Roman wrestling. He'll compete in the U.S. Open in December, with an eye on the U.S. Olympic trials in February.

In the meantime, he'll continue training with guys like Scott Jorgensen and Kit Cope. He'll also mix in more time with Team Alpha Male and Urijah Faber. Warren is slated to face Alexis Vila at Bellator 51 in his opening fight of the bantamweight tournament.

UFC 132 postfight: Screams of ?little guy!? inspired Cruz

UFC 132 could turn out to be a seminal moment for the bantamweight class in MMA.

The 135-pound title fight between Dominick Cruz and Urijah Faber was the first time fighters of that size headlined a card. The result was a close five-round fight that was waged all over the Octagon.

The champ, who retained his title via unanimous decision, 50-45, 49-46 and 48-47, knew there was a lot more on the line that just his UFC title belt.

"Me and Urijah kind of set the bar for the 135ers especially. we had something to show everybody in the world today ... that 135ers can headline a card. 145ers can headline a card and it will be exciting," Cruz said. "We can compete with, you know heavyweights, 170 pounders. We all train hard. We all work hard. Just because we're little guys doesn't mean we can't scrap," joked Cruz.

There were even screams of "little guy, little guy" coming from the crowd. It turned out that the dude yelling for 25 minutes was Brandon Vera, Cruz's camp mate at Alliance Training Center in San Diego.

"I knew what that meant. That's when I'm sparring. It means, get on my toes, hop around, footwork [and] move. That's kind of like an active rest. Yeah, I did hear [Vera yelling]," said Cruz.

The bantamweights and featherweights have a chance to become some of the biggest stars in the game. They hardly ever have the stamina issues you sometimes see at heavyweight and light heavyweight. The smaller guys also seem to be more well-rounded which makes finishes, via submission or knockout, possible in just about every fight.

Many of boxing's biggest stars currently fight between 126-154 pounds, so it makes sense that Cruz, Faber, Demetrious Johnson, Jose Aldo, Kenny Florian and countless others could be mega-stars in the next few years. The UFC announced last month that it'll add one more weight class, the 125 pounders before the end of 2011.

Cruz slips by Faber and retains title at UFC 132, but a third fight is needed

LAS VEGAS - Book it now. Five more rounds might be on the way between Dominick Cruz and Urijah Faber. Cruz and Faber traded punches, knees, kicks, takedowns and awesome scrambles and produced a very tough tilt to score. After 25 minutes of action, the judges gave a unanimous decision, 50-45, 49-46 and 48-47 to Cruz, the UFC bantamweight champion, in the main event of UFC 132 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena.

This was a revenge fight for the champion Cruz (18-1, 1-0 UFC). As a neophite, he lost in 2007 to Faber at WEC 26. Faber went onto a high level of stardom as the sport's best lighter weight fighter while Cruz worked in the background to improve his game and add incredible movement to his arsenal. The 5-foot-9 San Diegan also dropped down a weight class to 135 pounds. In the final days of the WEC, Cruz got on a hot streak and won the bantamweight title. When the UFC folded the 145 and 135 pound weight classes into the bigger promotion, Cruz was handed the title, but there was still unfinished business to legitimize the title. He had to beat Faber.

"I really hyped myself up for this fight. I wanted this fight for four years. I've been hungry for this fight, sweating for this fight, bleeding for this fight," Cruz said during the postfight press conference. "I got it. I won it. I'm happy."

The judges were slightly split on the fight with Sal D'Amato scoring it 5-0 for Cruz while Glenn Trowbridge had it 3-2.

"At the end of the fight, I said 'I'm glad I don't have to score that fight.' It was a very good fight back and forth and we'll see what happens," White responded when asked about a third fight some time down the road. "Third fights are always fun especially when they're as good as that one was. It was a great fight, very technical fight. It was MMA at its finest."

Faber (25-5, 1-1 UFC) and his corner looked devastated and sort of shocked by the decision. After getting blasted by Faber shots, Cruz hit the deck on three occasions, but his ability to bounce up quickly, may have nullified the flash knockdowns.

"You never really know how a fight is going to go until you get in there. I thought I landed the heavier punches. It just wasn't enough output on my side. I didn't finish him. I felt like it could've gone either way. I felt like I won the fight," said a gracious Faber.

Cruz admitted that he'd been blasted a few times by Faber.

"That dude hits hard. His hand are very fast," Cruz said. "They were prepared. His hands were good."

According to Compustrike, Cruz outlanded Faber 99-74, but the champ was knocked down three times. He scored with the judges by converting on 6-of-11 takedowns. Although it should be pointed that not once did Cruz ever really settle Faber down on the ground.

"We're both reaction fighters and was trying not to react too much to his movement, just kind of stalk him and take his best shot and land the heavier shots. I know I landed some heavy shots in there and I know i rocked him a couple of times. Apparently it wasn't enough," Faber said during the postfight press conference. "The main thing must've have been the amount of punches. That's the only thing I can think of."

Faber called Cruz cocky in the past, gave the young champ his due.

"Congrats to Dominick. I'm not an easy guy to beat. Joseph Benavidez is not an easy guy to beat," Faber said. "So we've got a good champ."

Pat Miletich interview: Not everyone?s a fan of Tito getting UFC 133 main event

In describing his miraculous turnaround from the brink of retirement, Tito Ortiz is beginning to throw around the term "Cinderella story." Ortiz, who fighting for his career at UFC 132, is now fighting Rashad Evans at UFC 133, but not everyone is feeling all warm and fuzzy. Showtime MMA analyst and former UFC fighter Pat Miletich was asked about Tito's tale and came across as less than thrilled that Ortiz is being given such a great opportunity (4:00 mark).

"I'm not comment a whole lot on that except, 'throw me in on an undercard and if I win, suddenly I'm a main event guy?' I don't know how that works. Tito puts asses in seats and probably sells pay-per-views, so it's a business decision most likely." Miletich said.

The Showtime analyst was also asked about a possible dream fight against Fedor Emelianenko.

"Let's be honest, Tito in the ring with Fedor ... I don't think Tito deserves that. I gotta be honest with you," Miletich said. "The level of class in those two persons. I don't think Tito remotely deserves that."

Miletich appeared on ESPNRadio1100 to promote his hour of the "The Sixth Annual ESPNRadio1100/98.9 FM 24-hour Radiothon" to benefit "The Caring Place" in Las Vegas.

Pat will be joined by Mauro Ranallo on Jul. 22 at the Palms. Anyone who'll be in the Las Vegas area that weekend can bid to sit in for an hour of radio with the Showtime duo. The proceeds go to "The Caring Place."

Check out the roster and bid if you'd like to contribute. Some of the other hours will hosted by Bernard Hopkins, Tony Dovolani, Brent Musberger, Larry Johnson, Jim Fassell and Mike Tyson.

Tito loves Dana: MMA?s favorite marriage continues, what?s next for Ortiz?

There's nothing better than the special bond between boss and employee. Dana White and Tito Ortiz are proof of that. The UFC president was looking forward to a clean separation, but Tito spoiled the party with his upset of Ryan Bader at UFC 132.

Going back to the postfight press conference at UFC 84, it's simply amazing that the Tito-Dana marriage is going to continue. Remember, that was night Ortiz was nearly denied access to the room. Las Vegas Metro Police were standing by in case some insane unfolded. Tito, girlfriend Jenna Jameson, broke into the room before White arrived. What ensued was a legendary sniping session between boss and employee. Tito probably didn't help his cause by wearing a "mean" t-shirt to the weigh-in.

Ortiz lost two more fights after the Machida defeat, but won with his back against the wall. Judging by the reaction from the fans at the MGM Grand Garden Arena on Saturday, Ortiz certainly has to be re-signed, but you have to wonder if there's any shot at a smooth negotiation. Boss and employee buried that hatchet at the UFC 132 postfight press conference.

Tito "begged" for a final fight and was getting paid $450,000 win or lose at UFC 132. Let's hope money isn't a stumbling block. We can't wait to see Ortiz back in the Octagon and more importantly, the next chapter of Tito-Dana emerge before the end of 2011.

Tito won't ever really be in the hunt for the light heavyweight title, so now it's time to make fights that the fans want to see. What do you like?

Rosholt moves one step closer to UFC return with win over Horwich

It's never easy against Matt Horwich, but if you fight smart and stay out his guard, you can get a win. Jake Rosholt didn't thrill the crowd in Frisco, Tx., but he stuck to his gameplan and took out the veteran to improve to 5-1 away from UFC in the main event of Shark Fights 17.

Rosholt (12-3, 1 NC) got a unanimous decision victory, 30-27 on all cards. He mixed takedowns with some solid body work on the feet. The former three-time NCAA Div. 1 national champion wrestler at Oklahoma State scored five takedowns in all, but never went to the ground with Horwich, a Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt fighting under Eddie Bravo.

"I'm just glad to get out here and get a win against him. It was a scrap. I knew it would be 15 minutes of scrapping," Rosholt told HDNet's Ron Kruck. "I was going to land some strikes, land some to his body and wear him out a little bit. I don't see very many people end Matt Horwich .

Following a loss against Kendall Grove at UFC 106, Rosholt was dropped by the UFC. He's only been a pro in MMA since July of 2007. He entered the WEC as a green fighter and got just one fight with Zuffa's smaller promotion before it phased out the middleweight division. Rosholt was probably thrown to the wolves a little too early in UFC. He went 1-2 with a win over Chris Leben and losses to Grove and Dan Miller. Clearly, his goal is to get back to the UFC.

"I just want to keep fighting and keep getting better all the time. Sooner or later I'll get there. That's where I deserve to be. That's where the best fighters are. That's where I want to fight," said Rosholt.

The takedowns always score with the judges and Horwich stayed on his back too long. On the feet, Horwich's charging flurries confused Rosholt a bit in the first, but it was the wrestler who did more damage in the long run. In the final round, he tried an unorthodox flying knee that missed, but followed it up with a left hook that opened a cut over Horwich's right eye. Horwich also had significant swelling under the eye by the end of the fight.

Former UFC heavyweight champion Ricco Rodriguez was also on the card. He ran through a very overmatched Doug Williams and won via rear-naked choke at 2:16 of the first round. Williams (5-13-1) was a late replacement after a wacky weigh-in day where Rodriguez's original opponent missed the catchweight by 23 pounds. This is a career rebirth for Rodriguez (47-11), who's fighting back from a well-publicized battle against drug addiction. The UFC champ back in 2002 ballooned to 300-plus pounds. Last night, he was 227 pounds and still looks like he should eventually fight down at 205 with some more conditioning work. Rodriguez's previous two fights were at a 215-pound catchweight.

The most dramatic moment of the night came when Alan Jouban crushed and finished Andrew Goldthwaite with a left hook (3:25 mark).

Anthony Pettis-Jeremy Stephens Latest Addition to UFC 136 in Houston

The Houston hits just keep on coming. A bout between final WEC lightweight champion Anthony Pettis and Jeremy Stephens has been added to UFC 136.

The UFC announced the matchup Saturday for its Oct. 8 card, which will take place in Houston, coinciding with a UFC Fan Expo on Oct. 7-8.

The fight is the latest in a slew of recent fight announcements the UFC has made for the show, which will be its second trip to the nation's fourth largest city. The UFC last visited Houston for UFC 69 in April 2007.

Pettis (13-2, 0-1 UFC) will be looking to rebound after some bad luck, followed by the end of a four-fight winning streak. Pettis, as the last WEC lightweight champ following that promotion's merger with the UFC, was expected to face the winner of the Jan. 1 fight between champion Frankie Edgar and Gray Maynard. When that fight ended in a draw, a rematch was ordered (one that will, coincidentally, happen at UFC 136 in the main event) - and Pettis was left in the cold. He took a fight with Clay Guida at the Season 13 Finale of "The Ultimate Fighter," and was outwrestled en route to a 30-27 sweep on the judges' scorecards for Guida.

Prior to that fight, Pettis went 4-0 in 2010, including his win over Ben Henderson to claim the WEC title at the promotion's swan song event in December. That fight included his now-famous flying kick off the cage in the fifth round - "the kick heard 'round the world." Three of his four wins in 2010 won fight-night bonus awards.

Stephens (20-6, 7-5 UFC) has started to surge upward in the lightweight division in 2011 with a Knockout of the Night win over Marcus Davis at UFC 125 and a unanimous decision win over Danny Downes at the TUF 13 Finale in June. Last September, he lost a close split decision to Melvin Guillard at UFC 119, his only loss in the last two years.

Stephens, an Iowa native, has four UFC fight-night bonuses in his career. Against Pettis, he will be facing his second consecutive Duke Roufus-trained fighter. Downes also is a product of the Roufusport school in Milwaukee.

UFC 136 features the main-event lightweight title trilogy rematch between Edgar and Maynard, plus a co-main event featherweight title fight between champion Jose Aldo and new featherweight Kenny Florian. In addition, the card features middleweight clashes between Chael Sonnen and Brian Stann and Demian Maia-Jorge Santiago, plus a lightweight bout between Guillard and Joe Lauzon. The star power already on the card means the Pettis-Stephens fight is likely to end up on the preliminary card.
